De Sa: We deserved the hammering

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa concedes his team deserved the 5-0 thumping at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday.

The Urban Warriors’ ambitions of a top-eight finish were dealt a damaging blow after the comprehensive defeat.

De Sa's side are 10th in the Absa Premiership table on 33 points with three games to go before the end of the season.

"We never got going at all. I thought we were bad from the first minute to the last really, and I think we deserved to get the hammering we got," De Sa told KickOff.

"So we've just got to try get the players back on the road, and go for a result next week again. When you're a professional player, you don't need too much motivation - you should be motivated each time to put on a kit and play.

"Obviously today, nobody came to the party, nobody even came out the change-room and it was very disappointing from the performance we gave against Sundonws to the one we gave today - it was almost as if we had totally different people.

"But there's nothing we can really do about this one, just try get it right for the next one. And hopefully we can bounce back."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
