De Sa sings Lentjies' praises

Johannesburg - Maritzburg United coach Roger De Sa highlighted the importance of captain Kurt Lentjies to the team and insists that someone will have to step up in his absence.

The veteran midfielder will miss the Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs on 8 February after being sent-off for a bad challenge on Phumlani Ntshangase prior to the mid-season break.

The 31-year-old has been a mainstay for the Team of Choice this season, having featured in every single league encounter except the 3-2 defeat against Cape Town City in November last year.

"That is why you need a squad of 27, 28 players," De Sa told Kickoff. "I think when the club fought off relegation last year, there were many games that the skipper wasn't there either.

"You got to overcome those games and yes he's a valuable player and good footballer.

"And many times I wish I had him in my teams but I think somebody else will have to step up and take on the armband and do a good job," he concluded.
