De Sa confirms Myeni capture unlikely

Cape Town - Transfer-listed Orlando Pirates midfielder Sifiso Myeni is highly unlikely to be moving to Ajax Cape Town with head coach Roger de Sa revealing he is too expensive.

The 28-year-old has been at Pirates since 2012 but was recently placed on the transfer list by the club. Myeni, who has played under De Sa at both Wits and the Bucs, is currently on the lookout for a team for the new season after being deemed surplus to requirements at Pirates.

However, it appears as if once again reuniting with De Sa at the Urban Warriors in the near future is not a realistic possibility.

This was confirmed by the Ajax coach, who pointed out that the player's salary represented a significant stumbling block towards any possible deal taking place.

"I speak to Sifiso quite a lot on the phone as a friend," Vodacom Soccer.

"The unfortunate thing is we can't afford his salary.

"I've heard Wits are said to be talking to him because they can probably afford his wages.

"We're not in the position to give him what he's looking for at the moment."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
