Cape Town - Orlando Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids is confident they will get the desired three points when they host Zimbabwean outfit FC Platinum in a crucial CAF Champions League clash on Friday night.

The Buccaneers go into the encounter knowing only a victory will keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the last eight of the tournament.

The South African side currently sit third in the four-team group on five points, two behind Horoya and a further point behind group leaders Esperance.

Only the top two from each of the four groups go through to the next round and Davids said they have prepared well for the clash and that FC Platinum play a similar style to PSL side Bloemfontein Celtic.

Davids said on Metro FM: "First of all we know we are playing against a team that has nothing to lose and we have to fight and then, of course, they have a similar approach to Bloemfontein Celtic.

"They load their defence and we have to apply ourselves to be able to unlock them. In the past game, we found it difficult to unlock Bloemfontein Celtic, but we have done our homework.

"We are confident that if we apply ourselves we can get the desired result."

Davids also insisted that Bucs will only concentrate on themselves and not be looking for favours from other teams to advance.

If Pirates win their final two games, then that should be enough to take them through.

Davids continued: "It's not about looking at the log table and hope Horoya beat Esperance, but we have to focus on our games.

"We have to win this next game and that will give us a chance to be able to go to Horoya and get what is needed for us to be able to qualify."

Kick-off is at 21:00.
