Cape Town - SuperSport United defender Clayton Daniels has applauded new coach Stuart Baxter for injecting a positive spirit in the team.
Baxter had a satisfactory start at Matsatsantsa following the 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.
The British-tactician will be looking to bag his first victory with United in their league clash against Ajax Cape Town on Sunday.
Daniels is convinced that Baxter is the right man to lead the star-studded Matsatsantsa back to winning ways.
"One thing that's stands out for is the fact that Baxter has built relationships with the players - something that our previous coach Gordon Igesund unfortunately couldn't do," Daniels told KickOff.
"He needs a bit of time as well to sift through the players. It's a pity that he has to come in on the back-end of the season, which means he does not have the luxury of time.
"But with his wealth of experience, I know the coach would consolidate the team and secure a top eight spot for next season.
"The coach was brave enough to play someone like Mario Booysen in defence with me and we all know that Mario hasn't got a lot of game-time at Sundowns. Needless to say that Mario didn't too badly at all."
