Cape Town - Cape Town City have boosted their strike-force with the purchase of Kenyan international marksman Masoud Juma, who arrives from Kariobangi Sharks.

Juma will plug the gap left by Lehlohonolo Majoro after he departed for Bidvest Wits in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old Juma is rated as one of Kenya's most exciting talents and according to City, they had to beat off a host of other teams circling around the former Sharks forward.

"Cape Town City is delighted to announce the acquisition of 21-year-old Kenyan international striker, and African top goal scorer of the year - Masoud Juma!," the club revealed on Twitter.

"The undisclosed transfer fee, was accepted by Juma's club Kariobangi Sharks in the @TheOfficialKPL ahead of bids from Europe, Egypt, and South Africa - and the club is thrilled that Juma in the end decided to join Cape Town City.

"Juma will receive his work permit this week and fly to Cape Town on JAN8 where he will meet his new teammates and begin preparing for CTCFC's domestic and CAF campaigns."

Citizens head coach Benni McCarthy is expecting the new arrival to make a big impact.

"At just 21, Juma has proven to be Africa's most prolific goal scorer. His quality is evident, as is the interest for him in Europe. He is still young and needs to be nurtured. But once he adapts and settles in, he has all the makings of a lethal out and out nine.

"We've had to rely on our possessional dominance to win games. Most of our goals come from midfielders. We're building a team for the future so it's nice to start putting together a group of young promising strikers who can score goals for the club going forward," McCarthy added.

Meanwhile, City return to action on Saturday, January 6 against Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
