CT City risk losing Jayiya in January

Cape Town - Cape Town City winger Bhongolwethu Jayiya could be a target for a number of Premiership clubs in January should he not extend his current deal with the Citizens.

The 26-year-old is in the final year of his contract with City, and will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement in January with any other team should he not renew with the Eric Tinkler-coached outfit.

Since making his debut for Bidvest Wits in 2010/11, Jayiya has fired in 24 goals in all competitions for the clubs he has played for.

The best return of his career was in his debut season when he managed eight goals in 12 appearances for the Students.

The Soweto-born star also has two league strikes in six starts for the Mother City-based outfit in 2016/17, and continues to show he is a productive performer in front of goal at PSL level.

Meanwhile, City boss John Comitis refused to comment on the player's contract situation, but it seems more than likely the club will look to extend Jayiya's stay in Cape Town.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
