CT City promise an update on Mthembu's contract

Director Michel Comitis says Cape Town City will soon issue a statement regarding the future of Siphelele Mthembu, with the player expected to leave the club.

The 32-year-old striker joined the Citizens from Free State Stars in 2018, having also played for Maritzburg City, Bloemfontein Celtic, Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars and Kaizer Chiefs in a long and varied career.

Mthembu's contract with City expires next month, while reports suggest he may already have departed the club.

Comitis told the SowetanLIVE: "In general, there're movements that are going to be happening now.

"I am not exactly sure what's the final position with regards to Mthembu, but the club will issue a statement soon.

"Shaka is an incredible player. I think he is very much misunderstood in this country. He's a top professional, we're proud of him as City."

Mthembu scored six goals from 25 games in his first season with City and scored once in nine games this season.
