Cape Town - Cape Town City confirmed on Tuesday that midfield duo Roland Putsche and Thabo Nodada have been ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.
The Austrian suffered a meniscus tear to his right knee while the Bafana Bafana international has suffered a leg fracture that will see them both miss the remainder of the 2018/2019 Absa Premiership campaign.
Both injuries occurred during the Citizen's 3-0 win over Highlands Park in the Nedbank Bank on Friday.
Head coach Benni McCarthy blasted the match officials after the final whistle demanding more protection for his players - with the duo now ruled out for the season - after two nasty challenges.
McCarthy swore on live TV in a heated post-match interview while fuming at the standard of refereeing in the PSL after a 1-0 loss away to AmaZulu on February 9.
McCarthy dropped an F-bomb during the interview while sharing his frustration at the match officials for failing to protect his players after winger Craig Martin was on the end of a nasty challenge.
"Until a player is kicked and told he can't kick a ball anymore, and that's when they'd want to take action," a frustrated McCarthy said.
"And their players only get f***ing yellow cards, I'm getting sick and tired of this because it's week in and week out it happens all the time."
