Comitis rubbishes McCarthy exit talk

Cape Town -  Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has rubbished speculation Benni McCarthy will leave his role next season after rumours linking him with SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana.

Comitis has declared himself more than satisfied with McCarthy's work and says there is no truth to the speculation.

The UEFA Champions League winner's contract expires in June 2020 and has indeed done a sterling job this season, guiding City to MTN8 glory while ensuring they remain in the hunt for the title, even at this late stage.

"I have not heard absolutely anything about that," Comitis told KickOff.com.

"There's no discussions about it, there's no rumours, I haven't heard anything. From my side there's absolutely nothing that I have been notified of, nothing, I've been given no heads-up.

"It would be a complete surprise to me so at this stage there's nothing to discuss, he's got one more year on his contract, and we have every intention to sit with him and extend it. We will be hopefully sitting before the end of the season to extend it."
