Comitis: City prepared for new Absa Premiership season

Cape Town - Cape Town City chief John Comitis is excited for the upcoming Absa Premiership season after seeing his side defeat Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend.

Craig Martin scored the only goal of a 1-0 win in the Mpumalanga Cultural Experience Cup.

The Mother City-based side impressed against the Glamour Boys where new goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh put in an outstanding performance.

City kick off their 2018/19 PSL season against SuperSport United, with Leeuwenburgh joining fellow new signings Riyaad Norodien, Gift Links, Kouassi Kouadja and Siphelele Mthembu.

After the weekend's game, Comitis revealed his delight at the business the club had conducted ahead of their upcoming campaign.

He said, as reported by IOL: "Cape Town, we have ourselves a team. This Peter (Leeuwenburgh) was incredible."

On his first taste of local football, Leeuwenburgh Tweeted: "Great way to finish pre-season and to get my first game minutes for CTCFC with a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs. Looking forward to the start of the league next week at home."
