Comitis applauds Tinkler's acumen

Cape Town - Cape Town City boss John Comitis has showered head coach Eric Tinkler with praise after he guided the newly-formed club to the Telkom Knockout title.

Just five months since its formation, City clinched the TKO title following a 2-1 victory over SuperSport United.

Comitis admits that the team far exceeded his expectations in winning silverware so soon.

"I'm elated. This crowd here today in Polokwane, they really got behind the boys. They play fantastic football you have to praise that," he told SuperSport TV.

"When guys come out and play entertaining football we have got to go for that and they've been doing that for a while.

"The whole of Cape Town is behind these boys and they feel it and they have this energy and it is unbelievable how they have come out. Unlucky to SuperSport it wasn't their day but I've got to commend my coach because he's an absolute master.

"I didn't think that we would do that [win a trophy] so quickly but I do know that we were building from the bottom up with the support I'm getting from Cape Town.

"From the city, to SAFA Cape Town, from the teams that are from lower down that are supplying us with players - I can only be grateful."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
