Cole Alexander sidelined for a month

Cape Town - A fractured metatarsal has ruled SuperSport United midfielder Cole Alexander out of action for up to a month.

The former Ajax Cape Town player does not know exactly when the knock occurred, although it was only in the days leading up to SuperSport's clash against the Urban Warriors on Saturday night that Alexander withdrew due to the pain in his right foot.

"I was playing with the fracture for a while but wasn't feeling any pain, hence I didn't think it was that serious," he explained how the situation unfolded to the KickOff.

"The pain started getting severe and I had to go for a scan. The doctors confirmed that I broke my fifth metatarsal in my right foot.

"Needless to say it is very frustrating. Just when you think you can add value to the team and play regularly, this happens," he added.

Alexander has featured in eight league games, scoring twice, for the Pretoria side this season. Half of those matches have been since the mid-season break as he became an increasingly regular fixture in the team before the injury blow.

He could potentially miss around five matches, including CAF Confederation Cup, league and Nedbank Cup encounters.

SuperSport face Orlando Pirates in Soweto on Tuesday night.

Kick off is at 19:30.
