Clever Boys to extend Keene deal

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira has indicated that the club intends to extend James Keene's contract at the end of the season.

With his contract set to expire in June, Wits will exercise the option to add another year to the deal.

SuperSport United are reportedly interested in making a move for Keene, who has impressed for Wits this season.

"Your story is correct that his contract with the club is set to expire in June, but he has an option. I don't have the documents with me but it's for the long term," Ferreira told KickOff.

Ferreira also confirmed that Phakamani Mahlambi will be sidelined in the long term after undergoing a successful knee operation.

"He went for an operation last week. It all went well. He will go for a medical check-up again to determine how long will be out of action," Ferreira added.
