Clever Boys closing in on Thuso Phala

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits are reportedly closing in on securing the services of former SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala after his services were terminated by Matsatsantsa.

The player parted ways with SuperSport following a string of disciplinary infringements but appears he could continue his career with coach Gavin Hunt at Wits.

Orlando Pirates and Highlands Park are also said to be in the running for his signature though it seems Wits are winning the race to land the 32-year-old.

The player made just 11 appearances in 2018/19 as his career with United came to an end under coach Kaitano Tembo.

A source told Kickoff: "Yes nothing has been confirmed yet, teams are still concentrating on the top five, top eight.

"At the moment it's Bidvest Wits who have approached his camp for the player.

"They are trying to complete everything during the Easter weekend. When that time comes definitely we will know."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
