City secures Cape Town Stadium access

Cape Town - Cape Town City boss John Comitis confirmed that eight of their 15 home games will be played at Cape Town Stadium.

At the unveiling of 11 new additional signings, Comitis was delighted to announce that Cape Town Stadium will host majority of their home games in during the 2016/17 season.

"We have secured Cape Town Stadium for as many games as the weekends are available because they (Cape Town Stadium) have other bookings for other events," Comitis said at a press conference held at the Hellenic FC clubhouse in Cape Town.

"At this stage I think we have eight out of our 15 games secured and we are in the process of negotiating another four.

"We are obviously looking for alternatives for those four games and we are still in discussions with a few stadia in order to achieve that.

"We are very satisfied with the way the city has dealt with us and we satisfied that they've put a proposal on the table that is manageable."

City take on Polokwane City in their first Absa Premiership encounter and Comitis revealed that only the lower tier has been provided by the stadium management for the match.

The lower tier is 20 000 seats in which Comitis feels is not enough but stadium management will open the second tier MTN8 Cup clash against Kaizer Chiefs on the Friday, August 26 following their league opener.

"We don't have the resources to fund everything at this stage," Comitis continued.

"When we start getting (funds) and hopefully we will see a big turn out at our first game and then we can re-access ourselves and see where we really are."

City face off against Rise and Shine on Tuesday, August 23 with the kick-off scheduled for 19:30.
