Cape Town - Absa Premiership pace-setters Mamelodi Sundowns will look to extend their lead at the top of the table when they take on Cape Town City on Tuesday at Athlone Stadium.
Sundowns go into the match with a one-point lead over Orlando Pirates - having played one game less - while the Citizens are in fourth, four points adrift.
Tuesday’s encounter will be the second in six days between the two sides, after Sundowns beat the Citizens 3-2 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last Wednesday.
While the previous match was a five-goal thriller, Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes the return leg at Athlone Stadium will be a far tighter affair.
“They will never, ever, ever allow us to score three goals. It’s going to a tight one, it’s going to be like the Wits one. I hope that there are no red cards. You never know, maybe you nick it and go with it,” Mosimane told the press earlier.
A victory for Benni McCarthy’s side could move them up to second place and close the gap to the league leaders to one point.
McCarthy, though, refused to be drawn into discussions about his side’s title credentials.
"I don’t know if because they see us in fourth position, we are title contenders. We don’t fall into that. We are just enjoying our football. We want to improve, we want to win football matches and come where we might end up, it's going to be a bonus and a plus,” he said.
"It's the players' hard work they put in every single day and game-time, that’s it. We're not looking at what Wits is doing, what Sundowns is doing, what Chiefs or Pirates are doing.
"For us we take it one game at a time, we are not even title contenders.”
Veteran Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse is set for a return after sitting out the previous two matches with suspension, but goalkeeper Denis Onyango remains a doubt.
