Chippa United sack coach Malesela

Cape Town - Chippa United have confirmed that coach Dan Malesela has been sacked on Wednesday, following his team's 3-1 defeat to Baroka FC at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday.

The defeat was Chippa's second Premiership loss in three starts after falling to Orlando Pirates in their opening game.

Their other result was a victory at home over AmaZulu before the break for international football.

As a result, Malesela said he was disappointed with the club's decision to terminate his services.

He told reporters, "Yes I have been released. It did not come as a shock to me as I was expecting it.

"When you work here at this club you expect anything. I don’t think I’ll be back in Port Elizabeth again ever again, I don’t think I’ll do that."

The 52-year-old has endured a difficult relation with the side's management during his time with the Chilli Boys.

Last season he was placed on 'special leave' before later being reinstated to help Chippa stave off relegation.
