Cape Town - Chippa United claimed only their second win of the Absa Premiership season on Wednesday night as they thrashed Black Leopards 3-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The hosts wasted little time to get themselves into the lead as midfielder Thabo Rakhale found the back of the Leopards net in the sixth minute.
The momentum continued to build for the Chilli Boys and they were rewarded for their enterprising football in the 19th minute when Chidi Kwem netted their second to consolidate their control over the game.
Chippa were once again on the attack just before the interval and almost found their third goal via William Twala, but his attempt was kept out by Leopards goalkeeper Jonas Mendes.
Veli Mothwa was finally put to the test around the hour mark as Leopards peppered a few shots on target, but the Chippa gloveman did well to keep the two-goal advantage intact.
The result was put to bed in the 84th minute as Twala made it 3-0 to the home team with a timely strike to secure all three points.
The Chilli Boys remain rooted to the bottom of the standings despite the win but are only one point behind their nearest rivals, while Leopards are a point above the drop zone.
