Chippa looking to drag Dikwena down

Cape Town - Chippa United will look to end their winless streak in the Absa Premiership when they host Platinum Stars at Wolfson Stadium.

Chippa’s drought was extended to five league matches when they lost 1-0 away to Polokwane City on April 16.

The Eastern Cape side has claimed 23 points from 12 home matches this season.

The Chilli Boys are placed eighth on the Absa Premiership log with 34 points from 25 matches.

Stars suffered just their third league loss since the turn of the year when they went down 2-0 at home to SuperSport United on April 17.

The Rustenburg side has claimed 18 points from 12 away matches this season.

Dikwena are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 44 points from 25 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Stars and Chippa have met in five league matches since 2012/13.

The Chilli Boys have claimed two wins compared to one for Dikwena, while two matches have been drawn.

Chippa have won both of their two previous home league matches against Stars.

When the teams met earlier this season, Dikwena claimed a thrilling 3-2 home win in Rustenburg.

The teams’ five league meetings have produced a total of 12 goals.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Wednesday, April 27.
