Cape Town - Chippa United had to come from behind en route to a 2-1 win over Cape Town City at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Sunday.
A balanced and evenly-contested match had its first goal in the 18th minute when Lehlohonolo Majoro was somehow able to engineer a cross from the right touchline to the back post, where Lyle Lakay struck it as sweetly as possible on the volley with his left foot.
Chippa were able to pull themselves level early in the second half thanks to Abel Mabaso, who won possession out wide and sent a ball in that may well have been meant as a cross, but went across goal and in at the far post.
A few minutes later and Musuku should have had Chippa ahead after Mark Mayambela bullied his way into the box from the right touchline and set it up for a close range strike at the near post, but the substitute couldn’t hit the target.
It looked like it would be a brief appearances for Katlego Mashego, who entered the pitch in the 57th minute for Lerato Manzini and soon afterwards was on the turf clutching his hamstring. But the forward stuck around, and was in the right place at the right time in the 72nd minute when City were struggling to clear their lines, and a blocked shot fell to his feet for a close-range finish.
