Cape Town - Chippa United were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Baroka FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
The Chilli Boys came into the match full of confidence after winning both of their previous league encounters.
Head coach Norman Mapeza named an unchanged side as he attempted to continue the positive momentum from their good form into the match.
However, Baroka were desperate to salvage whatever they could after their own poor run that included just two wins in their last 10 fixtures in all competitions.
The visitors sat back from the opening whistle and made it very difficult for Chippa to create any meaningful chances in front of goal.
A defensive blunder by Elvis Chipezeze nearly gifted the home side the lead, but they were too slow in capitalising before the ball was cleared.
The Chilli Boys continued to press without luck in the second period, although they were having more success engineering shots on target.
However, aside from his almost costly error in the first half, Chipezeze had a fantastic game and produced a string of good saves to keep his side on level terms.
Chippa will be left frustrated by being unable to claim victory in a match that they were so clearly dominant.
Baroka, on the other hand, will take a lot of heart from a hard-fought point and try use the positives to turn their floundering season around.
