Cape Town - Teboho Moloi was unable to secure a win from his first game in charge of Chippa as they drew 0-0 with Platinum Stars on Saturday.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between in this Premiership tie as both sides largely cancelled themselves out in this intriguing tie.

It was a relatively slow start by both sides at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium with Enocent Mkhabela the first with a chance for Chippa with a header on 13 minutes that flew wide of the target.

James Okwuosa was shaky with a 21st minute clearance before Robert Ng'ambi failed to direct his header on target with 23 minutes played.

Stars began to get more into the game but Katlego Mashego should have done better on 30 minutes before dallying in the box and having the ball stolen as he set to shoot.

Marc Mayambela was off target as the first half drew to a close while Sibongakonke Mbatha had a 44th minute effort deflect wide.

Mbongeni Mzimela was forced to punch clear after a scramble in the box early in the second half Abel Mabaso fired wide for Chippa on 59 minutes.

The Chilli Boys appeared to up the tempo in search of an opener but Mashego failed to beat Mzimela with his effort as the match wore on.

And Paseka Mako so nearly won it late on after latching onto a Kurt Lentjies through ball but Mzimela made a point-blank save.
