Chippa ends Mtsweni's contract after six months

Cape Town - Chippa United defender Simphiwe Mtsweni has been released from the club after just six months with the Premiership outfit.

According to KickOff, the left-back penned a deal with the Chilli Boys in July after not making the grade at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Mtsweni is now free after being handed his clearance,” Chippa CEO, Peter Koutroulis said.

“He struggled to break into the team and the coach decided that it would be in his best interest that he moves.

“The boy is still young and has a great future ahead of him because he has a good attitude and is professional in his approach to the game all the time. It just didn’t work well for him at Chippa.”

The 22-year-old is believed to have attracted interest from one National First Division side.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
