Cape Town - Chippa United have made their second signing of the mid-season break, having brought in midfielder Mxolisi Macuphu from Jomo Cosmos.
The Chilli Boys also signed Thabo Rakhale from Orlando Pirates with Phetso Mphanga and Diamond Thopola going in the opposite direction.
Macuphu, 28, has experience in playing in the top-flight from a previous spells at Golden Arrows and a brief stint at Polokwane City.
In the National First Division (NFD), he turned out for Royal Eagles before joining Cosmos is 2015.
The statement read:
Jomo Cosmos have sold striker Mxolisi Macuphu to PSL side Chippa United, it was confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Ezenkosi boss Dr. E.M. Sono, the contract has been signed and sealed but no other details were disclosed.
“Yes, Macuphu has signed up for Chippa United, and is no longer a Jomo Cosmos player,” Sono said.
Macuphu joined Cosmos from Royal Eagles in 2015 and emerged the team’s leading scorer last season with 9 goals across all competitions. This season he made 13 league starts for the team, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
He grabbed his last goal for Ezenkosi during the NFD win over Royal Eagles at Vosloorus Stadium on 10 December, 2017. In his two and a half seasons with Ezenkosi, the former Golden Arrows hit man scored a total of 17 goals in 40 appearances.
Jomo Cosmos would like to wish Macuphu the best of luck at his new base.
