Chilli Boys secure signing of 'new' Thembinkosi Lorch

Cape Town - Chippa United have confirmed the signing of Phumlani Maziya from Jomo Cosmos with the player being dubbed the 'new Thembinkosi Lorch'.

Maziya, who spent the last two seasons with Cosmos where he scored three goals in 43 appearances, has penned a two-year contract with an option to renew.

The player joins the likes of Lehlohonolo Masalesa, Diamond Thopola, Meshack Maphangule, Kelvin Moyo, Elvis Moyo, Sandile Mthethwa, Augustine Kwem and Mzikayise Mashaba in signing for the Chilli Boys.

The 23-year-old said in a statement: "It's a pleasure for me to be joining Chippa United.

"It's an exciting club with great players and I look forward to my time here.

"I would like to thank the chairman [Siviwe Mpengesi] for the opportunity that he has given me."

It will be Maziya's first taste of Premiership football as he started his career with Magesi in the National First Division, before moving to Ezenkosi in the second tier.
