Chiefs won't get carried away, says Komphela

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has urged his players to retain their focus after beating Cape Town City 1-0 to move into second position in the Premiership.

The Amakhosi only needed Ryan Moon's 47th-minute strike to claim all three points against the Citizens at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

The victory put Chiefs only four points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand, but Komphela insists it's too early to be talking about the title and only wants his squad to focus on one game at a time.

"It won’t be easy. We said it at the dressing room matches of this calibre could be won on small margins," Komphela told SuperSport TV.

"Even though I thought we had more chances to score two or three goals more but one has to be gracious and say he’s happy with the result and the three points

"Benni’s team is not easy to play against. We are delighted with the victory.

"What we are trying to do is effect the game more positively. We told them in the dressing room that if you don’t finish chances like this, they will finish us so you need to be clinical."

When asked about Chiefs' title chase, Komphela added: "Focus, focus, focus take it one game at a time. The essence of stress is the anticipation of time that is not available. We live for now. We live for this match, kill this one whatever happens tomorrow will happen.

"But if you want to finish the matches now with nine matches still to play, you’re likely to regret because somewhere you’re going to fluff.

"Concentrate on this one. Kill this one. Each time you live for now you have little pain because you don’t think much about what’s going to happen tomorrow. We live for now."
