Chiefs to loan out Mkhabela?

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly set to loan out new signing Enocent Mkhabela in January after deciding they already have enough options in the central midfield department.

Mkhabela joined Chiefs ahead of 2016/17 after catching the eye for the likes of Platinum Stars and SuperSport United.

Such was the esteem the 27-year-old was seemingly held in, he was handed Reneilwe Letsholonyane's number six jersey when the legendary box-to-box midfielder left for SuperSport.

However, things have not gone as well as hoped for Mkhabela, who has not made a single appearance for the Glamour Boys in any competition.

According to Soccer Laduma, the midfielder is not in Chiefs' plans for the current campaign.

The publication's source said: "The team feels that he needs to be playing more regularly and the only way to do that is for him to be loaned out.

"It's hard to come in and replace the existing midfielders - the attacking ones and defensive ones. With Keagan Buchanan coming back, there will be even more competition.

"It will be difficult for Mkhabela to play this season and that's why they want to loan him out in January."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
