Chiefs still assessing Cameroon trialist

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says that the club have decided against signing Cameroonian trialist Julien Ebah, though counterpart Christ Mbondi is still being assessed.

The Glamour Boys have made no secret of their quest to find a forward capable of scoring goals, with the likes of journeyman striker Darren Lurie as well as South American pair Arnaldo Gomes and Jonatan Philippe all being looked at.

As such, Komphela has revealed that Ebah has been released,  although Mbondi may still have a chance of making the grade at Naturena.

He told reporters: "We are still checking. We had two. One from Cameroon‚ Ebah‚ has left already. There is one left. We are at the final days of assessment.

"We need to be satisfied. And if not you cannot then take a hasty decision because of pressure. Because the minute that you take such a decision and commit an error‚ you have gone back.

"The amount of time you give a player in a contract is the amount of time that you are wasting or gaining. So we cannot afford to be wasting time by signing people who we feel we are under pressure to add‚ who are not going to help us or fit. So we're still in that process (with Mbondi)."

Reports suggest that Ebah could be on his way to the Indian Super League, with a Soccer Laduma report stating: "Ebah has stopped training with Chiefs and is believed to have an offer on the table from a club in the Indian Super League."
