Chiefs star to open talks over new deal

Cape Town - Mike Makaab, the agent of Lorenzo Gordinho, will reportedly meet with Kaizer Chiefs in the near future to discuss the extension of the player's deal at Naturena.

The 22-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the 2016/17 campaign, and he could potentially sign a pre-contract agreement in January if Chiefs were not to extend his deal.

Makaab told Soccer Laduma that he was meeting with the player and the Glamour Boys to discuss extending the defender's stay with the South African giants.

He said, "I'm flying to Johannesburg this week (to) meet with Lorenzo and discuss his future with Chiefs, and the potential extension of his contract."

Gordinho has been a regular under coach Steve Komphela and is the club's leading scorer along with George Lebese with three strikes to his name.

He has established himself at the Naturena-based outfit after previously seeing little game time under former coach Stuart Baxter.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
