Cape Town - Lebogang Manyama scored a last-gasp winner to give Kaizer Chiefs a dramatic 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

With the win, Chiefs extended their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership standings to 10 points.

Arrows did a fantastic job of preventing Chiefs from getting high up the field throughout the encounter, with Steve Komphela appearing to win the tactical duel on the day with opposite number Ernst Middendorp.

Neither side were able to string any meaningful attacks together and the stop-start and scrappy nature of the game suited Arrows.

There were plenty of fouls being won by both sides and this played in to Chiefs' hands in particular, who have scored an unprecedented number of goals from set-pieces this season, but the Arrows defence was holding firm at free-kicks.

In the 21st minute, Chiefs had a half-chance as they played a free-kick short and Kgotso Moleko crossed towards Erick Mathoho, who put his attempt just wide of the post.

Both teams defended well which made for very few clear cut chances.

Five minutes after the interval, Chiefs got away up the right and Dumisani Zuma pulled a cross back for Manyama to strike at goal from a good position, but Nkosinathi Sibisi blocked well inside the box.

Mathoho, who was looking for his third goal in his last four appearances, found himself unmarked in the area from a corner, but his header lacked power and was straight at Sifiso Mlungwana.

Chiefs snatched all three points in dramatic fashion in the last minute of injury time.

Reeve Frosler whipped in the cross to Samir Nurkovic, whose effort was saved by Mlungwana, but the ball bounced back out to Manyama, who rifled the volley in to the left-hand corner to send the Amakhosi faithful into delirium.
