Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs picked up their first Absa Premiership win of the season after three second-half goals saw them beat 10-man Cape Town City 4-1 at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
As it happened: Cape Town City 1-4 Kaizer Chiefs
The two teams went into the break at level pegging, with Amakhosi taking an early lead through Siyabonga Ngezana, before Matthew Rusike hit back for Benni McCarthy's side midway through the first half.
However, Khama Billiat quickly put Chiefs back in front early in the second half and he scored again in the closing stages after Taariq Fielies was sent off for City.
Philani Zulu wrapped up the victory at the death as the Soweto giants extended their unbeaten run in the league to four games.
Giovanni Solinas handed Lebohang Manyama his Chiefs debut at Cape Town Stadium, and the new signing drew an early save out of Peter Leeuwenburgh from just inside the box.
The visitors showed lots of intent in the opening stages and their efforts were rewarded on 12 minutes when Ngezana headed home at the near post after connecting with Willard Katsande's cross.
They threatened again moments later when the ball came out to Siphelele Ntshangase from a counter-attack, but he took the wrong decision to shoot instead of picking out a team-mate in a better position.
The Citizens had a sniff at goal on 20 minutes as Ayanda Patosi's shot struck the face of Ngezana and went wide of the target, although they were back on level terms just five minutes later.
Rusike beat Itumeleng Khune with a header after the Glamour Boys were caught napping at a corner.
Chiefs took just five second-half minutes to assert their authority on proceedings. After Billiat sent a free-kick straight at Leeuwenburgh, the Zimbabwean star converted Bernard Parker's cross with a stooping header.
Rusike went close to restoring parity again as the second half wore on, but Khune tipped his shot over the crossbar, while at the other end Manyama failed to trouble Leeuwenburgh with a header.
The hosts were dealt a big blow 22 minutes from time when Fielies received his second booking of the match to get sent off. Billiat took advantage of the extra man to grab his brace 11 minutes later with a clinical finish from inside the box.
Zulu added gloss to Solinas' first win at the helm with a fourth goal in stoppage time as he collected a fine pass from Hendrick Ekstein to slot past Leeuwenburgh.
