Cape Town - Kaizer
Chiefs have confirmed that talented young striker Yusuf Bunting has
been promoted to Steve Komphela's first team squad, after impressing in
the youth ranks.
Amakhosi have awarded the 21-year-old a long term deal until 2021 and he will now be available to give competition to the likes of Ryan Moon, Gustavo Paez and Bernard Parker in attack.
Bunting was reportedly a star performer during the SAB U21 National Championship, where he was the top scorer and was also named as the most valuable player in that tournament.
A statement on Chiefs' official website said, "Yusuf Bunting has been promoted to Kaizer Chiefs’ first team on a four-year deal, having signed a contract until 30 June 2021.
"The 21-year-old forward has done tremendously well in recent years for Amakhosi's reserve side, playing in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge. He was recently crowned as the Best Player and Top Goalscorer at the SAB Under-21 National Championship.
"Bunting helped his side Gauteng beat USSA (Universities Sports South Africa) in the final. The striker netted 12 goals in five games, including two hat-tricks."
Meanwhile The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced a new date for the
first Soweto derby of the Premiership season, which will now take place
on Saturday, October 21.
Chiefs were originally scheduled to lock
horns with arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on October
28, but the fixture has now been brought forward by a week.
