Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp insists his charges must keep working hard to improve despite enjoying a strong lead at the top of the Absa Premiership.
Amakhosi are nine points clear of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns after the opening 13 games of the league campaign and Middendorp has been impressed by the progress he has seen.
However, the German tactician insists there is still much room for improvement.
"The players must get a lot of credit in addition, as we have always benchmarked ourselves on our last performance," Middendorp told the club's official website.
"We have not concentrated on any opponent but on getting better every game, and we have done a good job thus far by continuous self-improvement and we will look to continue doing so as we go forward."
Middendorp clinched a third consecutive Coach of the Month award after overseeing his side's eighth consecutive win in the league and gave credit to his backroom staff for the achievement.
"We are very fortunate that we have a very specialised and professional technical team at the club, the group works well together and complement one another," added Middendorp.
"All the members of the technical staff are experts in their field, and they bring this to the team which has resulted in the success that we have had."
