Chiefs' Meyiwa on road to recovery after car crash

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa is said to be making good progress from his injuries after surviving a serious car accident earlier in early November.

Meyiwa survived what appeared to be a terrible car crash near the Free State at the beginning of the month, as he was reportedly on his way home to Pietermaritzburg.

Pictures from the accident showed the young player's Volkswagen to be in shocking condition and the 18-year-old was subsequently admitted to Intensive Care at a hospital nearby.

Nonetheless, Chiefs' official Twitter handle said he is on the road to recovery, tweeting: "Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa is out of ICU. He is stable under the care of specialist's supervision.

"The Club has appreciated all the messages of support and prayers for Meyiwa. We wish him a speedy recovery."

The rising starlet was promoted to the first team squad at the start of the campaign under coach Giovanni Solinas, however, has made just one start and one sub appearance under the Italian in 2018/19.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
