Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs' excellent recent form continued as they made it a hat-trick of league wins with a comfortable 2-0 victory over AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

Chiefs were on top for most of the first half, enjoying the lion's share of the goal-scoring chances and they deservedly went in front just before the interval. Ngezana's goal 12 minutes into the second half put the Soweto side firmly in control which is how it remained for the remainder of the game.

After Chiefs had an early penalty scare when Siyabonga Ngezana appeared to take down Jabulani Ncubeni in the home box, Amakhosi assumed control as Bernard Parker in particular enjoyed a succession of chances.

But the score-line remained unchanged as Parker missed the target with his first shot on goal in the seventh minute, before drawing out a save from Usuthu keeper Moeneeb Josephs in the 14th minute, before electing to chest rather than head a Ramahlwe Mphahlele cross four minutes later, the ball going well wide of goal.

The Glamour Boys remained on the front foot, and were unlucky not to go ahead in the 32nd minute when Daniel Cardoso smashed a shot against the woodwork.

It was Mphahlele who was to break the deadlock, two minutes before the interval, as he volleyed in expertly after the visitors failed to clear a corner.

Chiefs gave themselves some breathing space 12 minutes into the second half when Ngezana headed in at the far post with well-time effort from a Khama Billiat free kick.

Billiat was to squander a couple of half chances to extend the hosts' lead after twice miscuing volleyed attempts.

But that however proved inconsequential as the Glamour Boys played out the final 20 minutes in relative comfort, bar a couple of half chances for AmaZulu substitute Emiliano Tade, until the final whistle as their fine form continued.
