Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has revealed that Khama Billiat and Eric Mathoho have recovered from their respective injuries ahead of Tuesday evening's clash with Cape Town City at Newlands Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Billiat and Mathoho were taken off with 20 minutes to go in Chiefs' 1-1 draw with SuperSport United on Saturday evening due to having sustained knocks, but Middendorp has confirmed that the pair have gotten over their niggles and have travelled to Cape Town with the rest of the squad.
"The one positive we brought here is that the players that picked up knocks on Saturday made it into the travelling squad," said the Amakhosi mentor as quoted by the club's website.
Middendorp then bemoaned the fixture schedule, saying the three-day gap from the SuperSport game to the City clash has placed a heavy burden on the players.
"The game against City is too close after playing another huge match on Saturday," said Middendorp.
"We had to split the preparation in recovery and loading phases concurrently."
The Glamour Boys tactician then turned his attention to the encounter with the Citizens and is expecting a difficult challenge against a 'dangerous side'.
"City are in good shape. They just had a bad day in their MTN8 Cup exit but otherwise they are a dangerous side,” he added.
"If you check they’ve not effected much change in their team from last season, which is a plus for them.
"We’ve got new players coming in and others that we didn’t have available due to injuries last season, but already you can see progress – the team is gelling well. We have planned to give a good performance tonight."
