Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have played down concerns that Khama Billiat and Siphiwe Tshabalala could miss the start of the new Absa Premiership season due to injury.

New Amakhosi coach Giovanni Solinas kicks off his tenure in earnest with a tough trip to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon.

The Glamour Boys wrapped up their preparations this past weekend with a clash against Cape Town City in the Mpumalanga Cultural Experience Cup.

New signing Billiat started the pre-season encounter, but was forced off after colliding with City defender Taariq Feilies, while Tshabalala also picked up a knock and had to be substituted in the first half.

However, Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa has allayed fears over the duo's availability for the league opener at Loftus Versfeld.

"They are not serious, but we will update you about everything when we announce our season plans next week, including injury updates," Maphosa was quoted as saying by Phakaathi.
