Cape Town - Recent Kaizer Chiefs discard Siyanda Xulu has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Maritzburg United, after failing to hit the heights at Naturena.
The 25-year-old arrived at Chiefs ahead of the 2015/16 campaign with expectations high he would become an integral part of the team. However, he struggled to get playing time as coach Steve Komphela largely favoured Eric Mathoho and Lorenzo Gordinho in central defence.
Amakhosi management announced in June that Xulu was surplus to requirements and it has now been confirmed he will have a chance to resurrect his career with the Team of Choice.
It had previously been reported that a number of clubs in the Premiership were interested in his services with the likes of Cape Town City, Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United all considering a move.
Yet, Maritzburg have won the race for the player's signature and admitted their delight at securing the Bafana Bafana star.
The club's official Twitter account said, "Confirmed - the Team of Choice are proud to announce the signing of defender Siyanda Xulu on a three-year deal."
