Chiefs confirm Paez deal, issue update on Abraw

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has confirmed the signing of Venezuelan striker Gustavo Paez, while also issuing an update on Camaldine Abraw.

Paez arrives from Sociedad Civil Estudiantes De Merida FC on a free transfer after impressing manager Steve Komphela and his technical team over the past few weeks, while Abraw has been on the sidelines with a serious injury since the start of the campaign.

“We have signed Gustavo Paez on a two and half year deal," Motaung said on the club's official website.

"We invited Paez for trials after identifying him through our scouting network. The team has been playing well and creating ample chances but we’ve struggled to convert them."

Motaung added: "In the period he spent with us on trial, we observed aspects that we need in the team.

"He has good technical abilities and is a team player. We welcome him and wish him all of the best. There are no guarantees in football but we are confident that he will form part of the solution in our goal scoring area."

On the progress of Abraw, he explained: "We are happy with the recovery of Abraw. He is back in full training and we have re-registered him."
