Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter is hopeful of landing the services of Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Shaun Bartlett for the upcoming AFCON Group E qualifier against Libya.
Bartlett was roped in for the previous national team camp under Baxter and it appears the man in charge wants the former striker to be in his technical team once again.
Bafana take on the Mediterranean Knights on March 22 in a neutral venue which is yet to be announced due to unrest in Libya.
The South Africans need just a point to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament which takes place in June in Egypt, where the 'home' side need all three points.
Baxter said: "It's not been 100% cleared with Chiefs yet. The initial signals we got was that, when Shaun moved over, they would like him to be a Chiefs asset and not a national asset as well.
"But I think that stance has softened slightly. We haven't got a 100% call on that.
"Molefi Ntseki will certainly be with me, and after that, we want to take people who know what they're doing. We don't want to be inducting new people into the squad if at all possible."
The English-born coach had earlier said he will resign as coach of the side if the right result is not achieved. It is thought that Tunisia will be the location of the encounter.
