Champions League success next on Hunt's list

Cape Town - Wits coach Gavin Hunt has shifted his sights to the 2017 CAF Champions League after his side brushed aside Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final.

The Clever Boys thrashed the Chloorkop side 3-0 in the final at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday to earn Hunt his first piece of silverware since taking over the club in 2013.

Wits are enjoying a good run in recent times and the Students are undefeated so far this season.

They have already beaten both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, and the victory over Sundowns at the weekend completed the clean-sweep of South Africa's top clubs.

Nonetheless, Hunt is already looking forward to competing in Africa's premier club competition which begins early next year with the qualifying rounds.

He told reporters, "Let's see next year in May how we fare in the league. Let's see if we can do better in the Champions League.

"Our squad is much stronger for the Champions League when it starts in February. Let's see how we do there, we will try to compete on all fronts as much as we can."
