Celtic eager to bury Arrows

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic will look to build momentum in the Absa Premiership when they host Golden Arrows at Dr Molemela Stadium.

Celtic broke their four-game losing streak by claiming a 3-1 win at leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on March 16 – it was the Brazilians’ first home defeat in 2015/16.

The Bloemfontein side has claimed 11 points from as many home matches this season.

Phunya Sele Sele are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 25 points from 23 matches.

Arrows suffered a second successive loss in the league when they went down 3-0 at home to SuperSport United on March 19.

The Durban side has claimed 14 points from 11 away matches this season.

Abafana Bes’thende are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 28 points from 22 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Arrows and Celtic have met in 23 league matches since 2000/01.

Phunya Sele Sele have 11 wins compared to just two for Abafana Bes’thende, while 10 matches have been drawn.

Celtic have an unbeaten home record against Arrows in the league, with six wins and five draws from 11 matches.

When the teams met earlier this season they played to a goalless draw in Durban.

Celtic have kept six clean sheets in their last eight league matches against Arrows.

Kick-off is at 15:00 Sunday, April 10.
