Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic rallied back from a goal down to beat Stellenbosch FC 2-1 at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Ryan Moon scored for the hosts, while Mzwanele Mahashe and Ndumiso Mabena got themselves on the scoresheet for Phunya Sele Sele.
Stellies made a dream start, taking the lead in the fourth minute as a well directed cross-kick from Marc Van Heerden was headed home superbly by Moon.
In the 21st minute, Waseem Isaacs received a brilliant pass from Moon, but he just could not convert and double the lead for Stellenbosch.
After the hosts had edged the opening 20 minutes, Phunya Sele Sele shifted the momentum of the game in their favour but were unable to capitalise on their dominance with an equaliser.
Lehlonolo Seema was clearly not happy with his charges at the half-time break and made two changes, bringing on Andile Fikizolo for Tebogo Potsane and Given Mashikinya for Mbhazima Rikhotso.
Celtic equalised in the 54th minute and deservedly so when Lantshene Phalane's free-kick was fired home by Mahashe.
Seema's side were controlling the tempo of the game and looked to be the likelier of the two sides to get the winner.
As the second half progressed, Stellies seemed to be holding on more and more. With ten minutes to go, Stellies goalkeeper Boy de Jong produced a fantastic save to deny Teboho Khasipe with the free-kick.
Eventually, Celtic were rewarded for their endeavour with the winner from Mabena, who did brilliantly to lose his marker.
