Cape Town  - Bloemfontein Celtic were held to a goalless draw by Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership clash played at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

The draw saw Phunya Sele Sele remain 12 on the Absa Premiership standings, while Abafana Bes'thende stayed a place above Celtic on the log.

The visitors applied some pressure on Celtic defence in the opening stages of the game as they looked to break the deadlock.

Arrows winger Kudakwashe Mahachi's dangeous curling cross was cleared by  Celtic defender Bevan Fransman just three minutes into the game

In the 19th minute, Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb was well-positioned to make an easy save from Mahachi's curling free-kick.

Wayde Jooste played a good cross into the Arrows box which found his Celtic teammate Dumusani Zuma who then headed the ball over the crossbar.

Celtic's wingers were busy down the flanks - Thapelo Morena played good cross into the Arrows box in the 34th minute and Razak Abdoul failed to connent with the ball.

Five minutes before the half-time break, Celtic captain Fransman was red-carded after receiving his second yellow card of the game.

Morena should have put Phunya Sele Sele into the lead four minutes after the restart after being sent through on goal, but the winger fired over the crossbar.

Celtic head coach Serame Letsoaka made a tactical change eight minutes after the restart pulling out Razak Abdoul for Ayanda Lubisi.

Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva was forced into making a comfortable save from Celtic midfielder Lakay's cross on the hour-mark.

In the 76th minute, Arrows defender Nkanyiso Mngwengwe was red carded after receiving his second yellow card of the game.

Both teams launched late attacks in search of the winning goal in the remaining minutes, but it never came and the match ended goalless.
