Cape Town - SuperSport United came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic in an entertaining Absa Premiership match at a festive Dr Molemela Stadium on Wednesday.
Eric Tinkler's side started the match with purpose but instead found themselves behind after just 15 minutes when Ndumiso Mabena's superb through-ball saw Victor Letsoalo in on goal, and he showed good composure to go past goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse before slotting into an empty net.
SuperSport were able to muster a response, but had a Jeremy Brockie goal ruled offside three minutes later before Thuso Phala was kept out at close range by Celtic keeper Patrick Tingyemb.
Letsoalo, meanwhile, was close to adding a second goal seven minutes before half-time when he blazed over the bar.
Chances were traded after the restart as Kabelo Mahlasela went close from the edge of the box for Siwelele before Aubrey Modiba fired over the bar from 20 yards at the other end.
Brockie then sent a header inches wide before debutant Darren Smith arrived at the back post to head in Modiba's cross and restore parity 15 minutes from time.
Both clubs missed late chances to secure victory as Matsatsantsa defender Clayton Daniels sent a header wide Mpho Maruping did likewise at the opposite end.
