Cape Town - Free State Stars assistant coach Bradley Carnell has backed new head coach Giovanni Solinas to be a success at the club.
Carnell was hired to assist the Italian mentor last week to replace Ernst Middendorp, who resigned to rejoin Maritzburg United.
Solinas will take charge of his first game against Golden Arrows at Goble Park on Saturday.
"We have been brought in to steady the ship and restore stability. We fully understand the magnitude of the job at hand. It is a challenge we are relishing," Carnell told KickOff.
"Because of the situation we inherited here, it was important to come in and hit the ground running straightway – and we have done exactly that.
"The coach has been impressed by the players' attitude and energy levels in training. Obviously this is a transitional period and there is a fair amount of adjustment by all parties.
"A new coach has come in and looking to stamp his mark on the squad. That is normal and to be expected. It's early days, but so far the players have been magnificent, responding well to the coach's methods and philosophy."
Kick-off is at 15:30.
