Cape Town - Lerato Lamola scored late in the match to give Golden Arrows a narrow 1-0 win over Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership clash that dented the Citizens' hopes of winning the title.
In a clash with few clear-cut opportunities, substitute Lamola popped up in the 82nd minute with a composed finish to give Abafana Besthende maximum points at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
It was the hosts who started the match strongly with Danny Venter shooting over the bar and then Sibusiso Sibeko failing to convert Richard Matloga's cross.
City were not threatening and only came to life four minutes before the half-time interval when Siphelele Mthembu headed wide from a corner.
The second stanza wasn't much better for the Cape side with Arrows continuing to ask all the questions.
Venter was proving to be menace to the City defence but he wasted two good openings to give his team the lead but City 'keeper Peter Leeuwenburgh was up to the task.
Lamola, who was introduced into the game by coach Steve Komphela in the early stages after the break, opening the scoring eight minutes from time with a neat finish.
The Citizens couldn't find a response and Arrows went level on points with eighth place Bloemfontein Celtic in the PSL standings.
Cape Town City stay in fourth place, four points behind the leaders with five games of the season remaining.
