Cape Town - New Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Sibusiso Vilakazi admits he is disappointed to be ineligible for selection in the CAF Champions League.
Vilakazi is barred from playing for Sundowns in the continental competition due to having already represented Wits.
The 26 year-old joined the Brazilians in a blockbuster deal that saw Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele move in the opposite direction.
"Most definitely, I'm very disappointed that I'm cup-tied but it is what it is. I'm cup-tied and there's nothing that I can do," Vilakazi told KickOff.
"I can only wait for my opportunity to come next year, but I would have loved to jump in immediately and compete, and contribute to the team's excellent run.
"So far so good, obviously, now in the semi-finals they need to take it up a level and put a bit more into it because these are the crucial stages.
"Yes, I think at the moment the important thing is that we are getting games under our belt and that the rhythm is there, which will obviously carry over into the league and cup games coming up.
"It's important that we keep focused and continue playing and winning [in the Champions League] so that we don’t lose the rhythm of playing regularly and become idle at home."
