Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs development product Yusuf Bunting believes he is ready to make an impact for the first-team this season and cited the development of one of his peers.
Bunting, 21, has risen through the club's academy and represented Amakhosi in the Multichoice Diski Challenge over the past two seasons.
However, his displays in the recent SAB U-21 National Championships, that yielded 12 goals in five games during their triumphant tournament has given the forward a timely boost of confidence.
With Chiefs struggling to unearth a regular goalscorer, there's an opening for an individual to stake his claim as Gustavo Paez, Ryan Moon and Bernard Parker remain the only strikers fit and available for manager Steve Komphela.
"I watched the (Soweto Derby this past Saturday and playing in front of 90 000 people has to be amazing. I want to play in that match one day," he told SAFA Media.
"I also feel ready to play in the PSL. It is not easy there but you have guys like Teboho Mokoena who come from the SAB U-21 National Championships doing well.
"I feel I can also do the same. I am confident that if I could get a chance, I can do well not just for myself but also for the guys I was playing with and against at the tournament in Soweto."
